Comparing exactly the same grade ( 1 bud and 1 leaf ) of Biluochun green Yunnan tea. From the picture the thicker buds and bigger leafs are very obvious and for the online tea buyers the 2017 year would be more than likely a choice.
The reason for overall rich looking 2017y tea is more rain that season so the leaves were pretty much soaked up. The effect could be understand like fitness supplements for body builders , which are helping to muscles absorb / store more water and therefore gain on size.
And it’s same as with overall strength of muscles , the “pumped up” tea leafs also didn’t gain much more on richness. In fact, the 2018 “tou chun” although looks less attractive , it is richer in flavor than previous year.
